The Surgeon's House Family
Coming from the middle valley of the river Marecchia Malatesta family is composed of leaders and landowners, became famous for the fierce and ruthless character, some characters of the family have held senior political and military importance in the history of Italian Rimini and precisely.

Malatesta temple Malatesta
In Piazza Ferrari, a Rimini da dicembre 2007 è aperta al pubblico l'area archeologica musealizzata di 700 mq denominata " Domus del chirurgo ". Un autentico tesoro che per l'eccezzionalità del ritrovamento è capace di motivare da solo una visita a Rimini. Lo scavo avviato nel 1989 ha portato in luce una Roman domus, a palatial residence of Late Antiquity, burial and traces of early medieval houses, medieval walls and modern-era low. The visit amounts to a journey into the past.

The archaeological section of nearby City Museum (located in Via Tonini, corner Piazza Ferrari, the former Convent of the Jesuits and former Civil Hospital) dedicates a special room at the Domus, here you can get into medical taberna, rebuilt next to the original scale and admire the most significant findings found between the rubble of the collapse, one is amazed before the extraordinary glass panel which decorated a portion of triclinium .

The Malatesta temple is one of the most important Rimini and Italian Renaissance, and is linked to the figure of Sigmund Pandolfo Malatesta . The temple was born first as a Franciscan church in the mid-1200, then was embellished by the crucifix by Giotto in the early 1300 (see image below).
was then completely renovated between 1446 and 1460 by Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta. From 1809 it became the Cathedral of Rimini . During the period of Sigismondo Pandolfo, the temple was renovated by Leon Battista Alberti . The upper part of facade is unfinished, while the area apse was completed in 500 and subsequently amended in 700. Alberti, the architect was inspired by the architecture of Roman times: the facade is an obvious reworking of ' Arco di Augusto in Rimini, there are also some important Latin inscriptions, one of them mentions " Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, Pandolfo's son, started to vote in the year of grace 1450 , in fact, the temple was restored to honor and dedicated to the immortal God and the city of Rimini, to be escaped the many dangers of war Italic.
